Amalee Says:
I doubt one Australian viewing this ad thought anything other than what is was meant to be. An Australian supporter finds himself sitting amongst supporters for the opposition and uses KFC to reduce the risk of being heckled. Not one thing about stereotyping southern people, African Americans and fried chicken!
Racism is defined as "the prejudice that members of one race are intrinsically superior to members of other races" (wordnetweb.princeton.edu).
Those calling Aussie's racist as a result of this ad are the ones being racist. How can I draw this conclusion? Those crying racism must believe they have 'all knowledge and understanding' about what is racist and what isn't. Australian's obviously don't, after all, these all knowing Americans have had to point out to us the ad is racist. (sarcasm alert) Perhaps if they looked outside their own culture for once and came to understand other cultures they might, I say might, realise the world does not revolve around America and American's thoughts and opinions. From this Aussie to those Americans, get a life! Darek Wax Says:
Rather nice site you've got here. Thank you for it. I like such topics and anything connected to them. I definitely want to read a bit more on that blog soon.
Best wishes Tony Tin Man Says:
