In4matrix-fan Says:
Awesome video, turns out Will Smith isn't as slow as he looks. I managed to find this video and a whole heap of awesome websites through www.in4matrix.co.uk Check it out.
V Says:
you know a rubik's cube isn't that hard to solve lol especially when you have a whole minute. it looks like he was using the standard layer method, easy stuff.
M Says:
Isn't he the guy from Pursuit of Happiness? 'course he would be able to solve a Rubix Cubs that fast, he had to practice for that one scene.
C Says:
M, he also solved one on Fresh Prince of Bel-air so I think he learned a while ago before there were thousands of websites explaining how to do it step by step. and he does appear to be using the layer method, nothing too difficult but 55 seconds is still a good time. And the layer method is generally slower (Though he's probably using a very good cube).
Gargolan Says:
you guys know he got accepted to MIT but he refused to pursue rapping... Dont bash the guy cuz hes prolly smarter then you...
P-tank Says:
in college we had it down to 12-15 sec....
Billy Says:
actually he was never accepted to MIT, in fact he never even applied. Not saying he isn't a smart guy, cuz i believe he is; just saying that the MIT thing was only a rumor. "While it is widely reported that Smith turned down a scholarship to attend M.I.T., Smith denied [1] this in a Reader's Digest interview stating, "My mother, who worked for the School Board of Philadelphia, had a friend who was the admissions officer at MIT. I had pretty high SAT scores and they needed black kids, so I probably could have gotten in. But I had no intention of going to college." This is corroborated in a Wired interview [2] where he states he never applied to MIT. -wikipedia
Bob Says:
No offense to Will Smith, but that video started when he already had the first two layers done. It really took 55 seconds for the last layer. I have no doubts that he actually solved it, though, because I know that he can. By the way, he needs to learn some finger tricks.
Mike Says:
goo will. he made the same thing on jay leno show live in 48 seconds. its a great man and a great actor .
Dr. Kubrick Says:
Bob's right... they are fudging the numbers quite a bit or the cube wasn't scrambled all that well. If he truly solved the first two layers in 12 secs, he should have been sub 30 at least.
Speedslover Wannabe Says:
He's too show off... actually there's some person who can solve rubik's cube under 10 seconds... such as Erik Akkersdijk, Yu Nakajima, etc..and they're actually solve the cube... from totally scrambled... unlike Will smith who solve the cube after the first and two layer solved.... and there's a lot of tutorial on the net how to solve it.... and he's using the beginner method.... But it's entertaining enough, seeing him confused, tried to remember the OLL and PLL algorithms XD

Hi, cool post. I have been wondering about this topic,so thanks for writing.
Somebody Says:
Oh no, it looks like the Fresh Prince isn't a super-duper genius. It turns out he's only a moderately really smart slums-born rapper-turned-successful-dramatic-actor. They're a dime-a-dozen. I'm so disappointed to learn this, but so grateful to all the super-geniuses above. Like most people in the world, I've never solved a Rubik's Cube. It's really hard. I've never looked it up on the Internet, and I've never devoted the requisite time to figuring it out on my own. And I'm still really smart. It's true. That's why Will Smith is impressive.
Johns Says:
I was heartbroken to hear that he was a scientologist.

Deex Says:
I think it's really interesting just to see someone like him, who's face you've seen everywhere in all kinds of movies and shows, complete a Rubik's Cube in a somewhat non-average amount of time
Ashley Says:
how did he have the 1st 2 layers in 15 secs? does anybody know what method he uses?
